Mce05 Question
« on: December 24, 2005, 10:00:00 AM »

Just a quick question... Do you NEED a TV tuner to install MCE05? I've heard varying reports, so what do you have to say on the matter?

Many Thanks,
Dan

No, You only need a TV Tunner if you plan on using the "My TV" feature

Thanks for the reply.

Although this confuses me a little, as I've just installed MCE05 on my PC, using a fresh install. And it doesn't boot whatsoever, no further than WINXP booting screen, a split second of BlueSOD, and a restart.

Specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+

Nvidia Geforce FX 5200

512mb RAM

80gb IDE Harddrive

right annoying this is...

I built my MC05 PC first and then added the TV card and didn't have any problems. You may want to think about reinstalling after a fresh format.

first thing is mce2k5 is 32bit only. i know amd 64 will run 32bit os and mce is just a hyped xp pro, but its made to only run on certain hardware so it may not like the 64bit processor. The first thing i would try is a different gfx card.
If that dont sort it try a clean install with the different gfx card installed and if it runs fine swap the card back to you FX 5200.
