I didn't remove the resistance of mine so I would prefer not to try for now.

U can update the file via usb.
Then u can burn Old Update with Avatar to CD and but the CD in Drive. After this restart and Xbox 360 Updates Avatar from CD!

First of all. Im not dumb. Just curious. This is what happens if you try to update 9199 to your JTAG-box with R6T3 removed.

I believe it checks eFuses before it does anything to NAND -> cant burn fuses -> refuses to write NAND.

U CANNOT UPDATE SMC HACKED XBOXES it must be done manually. aka make a new image. and the HDD uncriple is confirmed from my friend which saves MS a lawsuit and they only did that to boost sales.

I updated this from LIVE to my Elite with Benq LT 1.1 and its running fine. I did flash the stock firmware while i made the update. I switched back to LT 1.1 after it was done. Only time will tell.

edit: I'm amazed that this update uncripples hdd's that got banned last year. Good news for those with crippled hdds.

After that update on my banned X360 I've lost my avatar.
Is there a possibility to recover it  ?
Is it possible to update only the avatar from the NXE update version 8955 ?

You think i dont know that? I did that only because anybody else here wasn´t doing it yet. Of course i know we need a new image. Just wanted to stop speculations about what that update *might do* to JTAG-boxes.

Do not update your JTAG'd 360's - if you haven't removed the R6T3 or bridge method, this update sounds like it's a fuse 'burner' (and lets face it - MS would be stupid not to make this one pop a fuse or two....).

Also, word on the street says this update will allow HD installs, but the console still creates 'untrusted' content - ie your GT and saves will still be corrupted when transferring to another console. Although I've not tested a 'crippled' 360 meself yet.

I did what the previous suggestion said, and just used the HDD from an updated console....
It worked to update my banned console....
but now my avatar isn't there and says that i need to update to get it working....
I'm under the impression that the above "Old Update with Avatar" cd would possibly fix my problem,
but i'm not sure where to get this update....Could someone refer me to a site or link to get this file?
Or help me out a little more?

PS Game is installing to hdd as we speak, on a previously banned console....so that parts working!

i think the avatar update will be around as soon as the updates avaliable on xbox.com

I can confirm that this update DOES unban/uncripple the 360hdd.  I installed it on my banned 360 and can again install games to the 360hdd.  I also did a network test to see if it would cripple the 360hdd and it does NOT.
