Microsoft released the new system update (9199):

We've just released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE.
As previously announced, this system update contains support for USB Memory storage devices.

Sometime over the next few hours when you sign in to Xbox LIVE you'll receive a prompt to accept this mandatory update. If you are signed into LIVE already, you may be signed out and asked to accept the update and you'll be back online in a few moments.

Read the FAQ on Xbox.com which may answer some of your questions.

Of course jtagged 360s shouldn't update ... they should wait for a new version of XBReboot/freeBOOT.
360s with modified DVD FWs update at own risk, as always

!Update! This update will also un-criple HDDs of banned consoles (but will NOT unban ur console of course)

How you can tell that this update un-criples previously banned HDD of the console ?
If you have a banned HDD that means that the X360 is banned as well, so how did you get this update from LIVE ?

I guess they got rid of the crippling to avoid law suits. Good news for us then.

So, can we now download and use game saves other than our own? I know that we can open up our HDD and inject them but now with USB support, it's pretty much plug-and-play?

Who confirmed that it uncripples the hd? Any links? And how do we download it, it's not on the xbox site, only 8955 is.

i did i am using ixtreme LT 1.0 never bothered to upgrade to 1.1 cause i don't have dirty disk errors all is good the wife is watching netflix right now oh yeah i have a liteon 93450c

Hmmm step one on how to getnew update to banned console....
Get none modded Xbox with Hdd, get update from live, install hdd to banned console, take update... It is that simple.
