muell67, those prices are in CDN, not USD (all prices mentioned before were in USD).  Also, that link you sent doesn't list the new wireless controller.

A couple things: first of all, I tried out the controller on Chronicles of Riddick last night.  The sticks definitely have an analog feel to them.  Secondly, I decided to get to the bottom of this, and take some pictures of the controller's inside.  Here are the pics, for your viewing pleasure:

Oh, and pay special attention to this one:

Now, I'm no electrical engineer, but those really look a lot like potentiometers.

which one was the pictures taken of??????????/

EDIT:
i found this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/...ssPageName=WDVW

its the newerone, and at the bottom you can see the size difference, his ad says their dual analog, but now the questions i have is the pictures you took above the newerone? do the buttons light up? dose the newer ine come with a slot for mem cards????

All the pictures I have listed have been pictures of the newer one.  THe newer one does indeed have true dual analog sticks.  It also has two memory card slots, although they are located on the dongle, just like all wireless Xbox controllers up to this point.

I should be able to get a pic of the dongle.  And no, the buttons don't illuminate; they're just really reflective, as is the jewel.

Edit- until I get the pics posted, it looks very similar to the old one:

yes if you arent pressing any buttons or moving the sticks and the light keeps flashing randomly, then you have a defective receiver unit just like i had.  best bet is to return it and get a new one.

first play with it a bit and see if you lose connection a lot and if the buttons are responsive at all.  with my defective receiver unit the buttons were laggy and i would get disconnected all the time and playing emulated games was awful because using the dpad was impossible because the repsponse was terrible.

with the returns i got two controllers with good receivers and the repsonse is incredible now and i love these controllers.

did you take it back to the store or send it to logitech? Ive heard the first batch of these all had this problem so if I took it back to walmart I would just get the same thing. Im not having any problems with it though. Ive never lost connection, the light just continues to blink.

You are probaly pretty safe getting it off the net.  For one, large retailers mostly got the first batches.  Also, if you order from a large online retailer the stock has probaly cycled several times by now (now only giving them the newer units).

Worst case, call logitech and describe the problem if you get a defective one - While its not officially annouced they are aware of the problem and they will ship out a new receiver unit via 2 day delivery and send a postage prepaid box to return the defective one.

where is the cheepest place that they sell the new ones>

and i like stores, just in case i dont like it...

falken98, how did you come upon this information that some receivers were defective?  Man you saved me a lot of grief. Thanks

Very true.  I'm curious: I know Logitech's "comparison chart" says that the newer wireless controller doesn't have analog sticks, but I wonder if it's an error on the site, or has this "feature" (or lack thereof) been mentioned and/or marketed elsewhere?

it clearly show that the newer one HAS analong sticks...
