QUOTE (orbital517 @ Aug 9 2004, 08:49 PM)
The only bad thing is that this guy (Phil) does not know how to do v1.6 xbox modchip installs.  I took my v1.6 to him a while back and he wasn't able to do it (it kept fragging).  He's a cool guy, but if you have a v1.6 xbox, don't bother taking it to him.

100% incorrect, I have installed several V1.6 Xboxes!! He might have screwed his LPC when he failed to install the chip before he brought it to me. I did what I could to try to get it working, but, his solder job was a disaster and I hadn't the time to clean his mess. So please don't come to my thread saying I do not know how to do something!

You have a V1.6? Need it modded? Let me know I have several V1.6 installs under my belt!

As a point of reference here is a thread I started a while back to help some of the confusion with people trying the v1.6 install: http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=252559

I didn't insult you on my original post, just stated the facts.  I brought you my v1.6 xbox dropped it off for about 3 hours and came back.  You could not get it to work and it kept fragging.  All I did was put the pinheader in originally and didn't mess anything up so please don't try to lie.

I took my xbox to another installer and he had NO PROBLEMS whatsoever.  Like I said, I didn't insult you in my original post so there's no need to be childish about it.  I'm just warning the other people out there about you.

No you do not speak the facts. If that were the case then I would not have been able to install all the other V1.6 that I have done! Your pissed because I didn't do your Xbox I guess? Did I not say I had no desolder braid to remove your pin header install? Which by the way (just being honest) was not a good solder job you did. I never said that you screwed anything up, other than it was a possibility. Now I understand you are upset because I did not do your system, but, what I don't understand is you coming to "Warn People" about me. What did I do that was so bad? Nothing! I could not fix your solder work with what I had. You did not tell me you attempted (and failed) to install the mod yourself. Had you done so I could have been prepared for it and fixed accordingly. I have installed several hundreds of Xboxs and have never had any problems with the installs.

Please do not listen to this guy, I CAN and DO install V1.6, we all know how people on the internet can be!  rolleyes.gif

Phil,

Thank you for all your help this past weekend.  The XBOX is working great and in color!  As for the left LED, I believe that I may have caused it to start grounding out again by changing the cover out with another XBOX and switching the silver screws with the old black screws that seem to be smaller.  I will try putting electrical tape over it like you suggested.

Anyone who lives in the Houston area,

If you are thinking of moding your XBOX you need to take it to Phil.  Soldering is not as easy as the chip makers make it out to be.  It takes real skill and it is not worth ruining a $150 XBOX and a $50 chip to find out weather or not you’ve got those skills.  Phil’s prices are reasonable and his turnaround time is very fast.  He had my XBOX back to me in just a few hours.  A great service all around.  I will defiantly send my friends and bring any new XBOXes to Phil.

Anyone interested in mod installs you can find more information about my services here: http://s87598929.onlinehome.us/

Also, all local mods must be dropped and picked up the next day (sometimes the same day). Today someone stole from my house and this is the second time this has happened. So now no one will be able to sit an wait while I perform mod installs. This is rather unfortunate for those who would like to learn and see how the modding process is completed. So, I'm sorry, if you want your xbox modded you will have to drop it off.
