Game Update Via Disc?
« on: November 21, 2007, 02:35:00 PM »

Some games need a little game update otherwise they will not play. I always get the updates via Live but can you also get the update via the game disc? Because otherwise people without an internet connection (if they exist...) also could not play the game (and banned consoles)

If it is possible, how do you achieve that? Where can you choose to get this update from the disc?

the updates that are necessary are contained on the disc. if you put a game in that requires a dashboard version newer then what you already have, and your ethernet cable is unplugged, you willl still get the "choose ok to play this game" screen, then the update will install from the disc.

don't confuse mandatory dashboard updates that are required to play the game in general with game updates that are required to play the game while connected to live.

If u have an xbox with and without a connection to live u will also notice then when the harddrive receives an update on the xbox with an internet connection, it stores the update on the harddrive. If u hook up the harddrive to another console it will automatically prompt to install the update if it was not installed already...
