Using A Ps2 Power Cord For Xbox?
« on: June 07, 2004, 09:21:00 PM »

I got an old 1.0 xbox from a friend whos ps died. I have a power supply on the way and am ready for replacement, but i noticed he forgot to toss in any wires. I have a spare AV cable (i got the HD one) but no spare power cord. Since I am not sure Walmart carries replacements, and I am reletively sure that the origional cord is pretty much a direct line from the house power to the xbox. Lookin gat my origional xbox cord it has a cylindrical rubber piece near the xbox side of the cord, of which i am not sure of its function.

What I am getting at is I am wondering if i can (with a slight bit of filing of rubber) use my old ps2 power cord for the xbox? The cord is rated at 7A and 125V. I would check my xbox cord but it is woefully buried under a jungle of other cords and yanking it will probably cause an electral calamity in my living room. Thanks for any help in advance.

edit:

/heh i put "old 1.9"

The xbox power supply expects a 2.5 amp input, so a 7.5 amp cable will work fine.

Also check ebay for replacement cables.

Go to EB Games or GameStop (Software Etc, GameStop, blah blah) and get a semi-universal power cable for around $6.  It works for Dreamcast, PS2, Playstation, and Xbox.  I was in the same problem today, but the PS2 cord doesn't fit unless you hack off the square part, so I just bought me one of them.
