Pre-Story Info - Feel free to skip this if you want to help, but don't have time to waste.  I've had a modded xbox for about 2 years now, it had a nice enigmah final chipped installed by a friend in NY.  Sadly though, it has kicked the bucket, FRAG-ed for no apperent reason, other than the fact that I've used it a lot over this time.  I wasn't too bothered by this fact, however I use XBMC, in part, to keep myself sane during freq. hospital visits (a much larger story I'm sure even less people are interested in reading than this... although I did get to witness 2 nurses smacktalking whilst Halo'ing... good times).  I ordered a Xenium ICE (w/ solderless kit) assuming I would be able to go to Best Buy, shift around through the xboxen, and find a 1.0 - 1.3 xbox... oh I could have not been more wrong.  Not only were they all 1.6, but they were made just 2 months earlier!

Info - I really doubt this is possible, but I was wondering if anyone was aware of a store that might have a new xbox that was pre 1.6 (aka something that has been sitting around since 2002 - 2003).  I do not think this is likely to happen, and I don't want to deal with referb., even though nothing might go wrong, I really don't want to have to buy another xbox 1 in my life.  Most likely I will end up contacting BigZ and forking over some more cash (although it's worth it, any saved money is nice for a student).  <

I really doubt you could ever find one. Best bet is to buy a used/refurbished one with a good warranty, so if it breaks, they'll fix it for free.  <

Yep, that is the only reason, because of the new design of the 1.6 motherboards, they require soldering (I only do spot welding... and am horrified at the idea of using my rough skills on electronics =).  I know I could pay for someone to solder as well, but I think I may have lucked out and found someone that has some 1.3/1.4 in stock (they were smart and bought some xboxen up when 1.6 were announced... aka they are my hero!).  Thanks for the input from everyone though, this board continues to be the best.
