I am really happy ATM, the update fixes a lot with DVD-Playback! It's just incredible, before this update my DVD sucked with playback, now it runs perfectly smooth... Way to go MS

Well i just tryed it and my vga cable still gives me a washed out screen on my lcd. The component av cable still has much better quality colours.

Maybe on pc monitor? If i use the native res of my lcd tv (1360/7xx) (le32r72B samsung) its still sortoff washed out/foggy. Maybe ingame its better. WIll try later. The dashboard absolutely looks better using component.

The colours do indeed appear to be far more vibrant to me too, though the black level is still too bright, but nevetheless a notable improvement.

and now that dvd's are no longer downscaled on vga I mayactually use it as dvd player finally.

overall, happy so far.

Can anyone confirm if the black levels are fixed for DVD playback? Not neccisarily for VGA, just DVD viewing.

i just tried using my 360 as a dvd player for the first time, wow i almost threw up the quality was so bad, i was checking to see if it upscaled to 720p. it does not, as i figured. i cant believe how bad the video quality is though, almost like when you watch a home video after viewing network tv. ill stick with my standalone dvd player.

All my downloaded videos are in both my game videos (in the games blade), and my videos (in the media blade). Is this an error on my system or is everyones like this?

Yes, I forgot to mention I was using component connectors. So are you running with vga cables? If so, why would MS decide to upconvert vga and not component signals? Aren't they basically the same thing?

yes I'm running with vga, and they don't appear to be the same thing as far as the 360 is concerned, they're different video signals too, vga is rgb, component isn't, but either way, for backwards compatibility there appears to be issues on vga that aren't there on component.. so god knows.

I couldn't answer why they aren't doing it for component, other than previously with vga, they were downconverted, at least for PAL users.

VGA washed out colors got fixed for me. Using 19" LCD monitor.
