First of all blackchild1101 MS has said that
NO YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO BUY NEW XBOX GAMESQUOTE
We're not sure where this came from, and is incorrect. At launch, Xbox 360 will be backward compatible with the top Xbox games. Our goal is to have every Xbox game work on Xbox 360. You will NOT need to purchase a new 'version' -- your original games will work on Xbox 360.

Second of all MS said they would have Xbox360
GAMES playable at E3 which they do. IIRC NO console that has beenl 6 months away from completion has EVER used final hardware to run demos at conferences. Seriously WHO CARES if it's not actual hardware yet. I personally think it's MORE impressive that these amazing games are running on a fraction of the final system's performance power.
Thirdly Sony Said that the "tech demos" were real time, which they were and they also said that NONE of the "game demos" were done in real time. There is a difference: rubber ducky bath tub, cannon ball demo, etc were real time... Killzone, VGT, etc. were just CG game teasers. (most devs haven't had Dev kits long enough yet to make anything worth showing for conference footage)
Finally Nintendo said that they DO have HD support, I don't know where you got the impression that they'll require a DVD adapter but they said nothing about that AT ALL, they also only listed their 1st party franchises that would make it to the system. As for 3rd party support, based on what individual 3rd parties have actually said it looks to be much stronger than what the GC got for support. Finally they haven't really released ANYTHING; hardware specs, controller design, game demos or even CG teasers. The revolutionary aspect of their console is supposedly the new controller which they haven't yet unveiled. Anyone who thinks they can pass judgment with the little amount of info Nintendo gave is just being pig headed and was probably going to have the same opinions about the Revolution no matter what was announced.
NumberOneRB you've got it backwards mate. The Killzone footage is what the developers "would like the game to look like" so it's essentially a CONCEPT of what they HOPE the game will look and feel like.
as for it actually running on a PS3:
QUOTE
Epic and EA presentations were the only third party portions actually running on the PS3 in real-time

in reference to the sony conference being real timeAnd what about the game footage clips?
Phil Harrison: Not all of that - in fact, none of it was real-time

An IGN article about Killzone:
http://ps3.ign.com/a...4/614924p1.htmlAn IGN interview with one of the people behind the Killzone footage:
http://ps3.ign.com/a...6/616591p1.htmlOk so pretty much everyone at Sony questioned about killzone being actual game play or at least rendered in real time as either dodged the question or outright said "no this is not real time"
I'm tired of people saying this pre-rendered GC MOVIES are realtime gameplay without ever having read anything on it at all.
