Possible To Use Xbox 360 Cpu On Pc Mb
« on: May 18, 2005, 11:04:00 PM »

Is is possible to remove one cpu from the xbox 360 and use it on a regular pc motherboard? Those are 3ghz chips, that's some power. If people can get windows xp to run on 360, it's game over.

I'll bet even if you could remove it, the slot would be proprietary. Besides, you can't just drop an OS made for x86 on PPC. That's why Linux distros have PPC and x86 editions. :P

I'm not one for flaming people. But really this is the dumbest question i have seen asked yet. That and the "will the xbox360 be modable".

wether or not it is moddable is not a "dumb" question. It will be moddable but it's not a "dumb question"...

removing the CPU? stupid question. First of all the motherboard chipset and processor are closely related. I don't know of any chipsits that would be in a compuer you're thinking of that runs a PPC processor.... In fact the socket is entirely different. Also, like most gaming systems, it will be soldered on not socketed (99% sure) because it is the better method.

I think that xbox 360 does not have three individual cpu's, but have three cores into one processor, processing at 3.2ghz a piece.  Correct me if I am wrong, I am human, but I do not think xbox 360 has three different cpus in there...furthermore, why would you want to tinker with a VIDEO GAME SYSTEM! Yes I said it, video game system, not a computer, plus by the time next year hits their will probably be cpu's for PCs that can outperform the cpu's in the xbox 360, just a thought

Because if it does have 3 CPUs running at 3ghz each, I want that as a computer dammit!
I can already look at porn using my xbox and Xdsl, with the XBOX360 I could look at it like 15 times faster and with better rendering!
