What is this used for exactly? |
This is ideal wire for modding XBoxes, PS2s, alarm clocks, or whatever.
Radio Shack doesn't carry anything thinner than around 22 AWG wire, which is way too stiff for modding XBoxes. If you want to mod your own XBox, repair a mod, or basically need thin, flexible wire, this is good stuff to have. A lot of us aren't fortunate enough to have specialty electronics shops nearby so we have to rely on the internet to get our supply. Most electronics shops online have minimums you have to spend on an order, or their shipping is really high. I don't mind getting rid of this stuff for a reasonable price. I'd like to make it worth my time to measure, package, and ship.
I learned the hard way why one shouldn't use thicker solid wire. The stuff I bought at Radio Shack was too stiff and when I would bend it around a capacitor or mount, it would occasionally pop off. (This could also have been due to my amateur soldering skills. That's why I'm not a modder.) So as mentioned above, this wire is ideal for modding. It's flexible enough that moving it around won't put any force on an already soldered end.
