Probably not.

Head thrashing (movement back and forth) is PERFECTLY NORMAL.

What is NOT is when it STOPS doing this because it's reseeking the same bad block over and over.

well my xbox has always been making this faint humming sound, it seems as if that sound has gotten louder

unsure.gif I remember hearing about the Samsung maybe being able to read CD-Rs too...
Any difference in the chance of the same thing that happend to my Thomson would happend to either one of them?

There is always a chance that hardware will die...

The sammys seem to be rock solid.  The New philips seems to read everything too...

Every thompson drive I have come across reads dvd-r but no cd-r.

I know you think im too whiny but i really dont make alot of money. Now i dont like ppl who try to treat me any other than regular but it takes me about four months to save up enough money (and thats saving as much as i can) to buy a new drive... So i really want to make sure that it will work!
