People always say that one thing or another will end modchips or that there's a new "unbreakable" copy protection.  When are people going to learn?  How many copy protection schemes have to be broken before people realize that there is no "unbreakable" copy protection?

Heh, have you ever known MS to be good with security?
Though any sort of hardware protection is tougher to crack.

yea, look at how often they have critical updates on the news because a super virus, the Windows XP has been out since 2001, MS will never get there act together and just because there not baseing there consle on the old arcitecture dosnt mean its un hackable. ps2 had custom parts but it has modchips

Ahhh... That's good to hear!!! I apologize for my ignorance. I don't know a lot about hacking or programming so statements like "custom security features built directly into the silicon to prevent piracy and hacking" scares me.

I didn't mean it as an attack at you personally.  I just find it funny that developers and media types announce such things.  It's rather silly when they know that workarounds will be made and it will just end up making them look foolish in the long run.

How so? You can use PSO to play backups off your PC's HD. Thus, it has been hacked.

Yes, it was probably a glitch, and smart people have used that glitch to make the Gamecube do things it was not intended to do. The same thing as the old 007 AUF memory hack. All those are hacks.

Well, the PSO load method allows you to send anything to the GC (games, linux, probably homebrew apps (if there are any). The problem with the discs is more the size than anything. People make mini-CDrs in that size, but not DVDs. Someone should cut down a dvd with a dremel. Then burning the format may be problematic.

Yeah, streaming GC isos is slow. The DC homebrew scene is still thriving because it uses standard size media.

"The end of the modchip"? It's MS. M$ =/= security.
