scripts will work with a static ip .. make sure you have a gateway and a DNS address specified in the network config .. usually both are the address of the router .. DHCP may not work because it may be turned off on your router ..

what is the ip of your router ? .. usually the router is .0.1 or .1.1 .. heres what that screen should have in it ..

ip 192.168.1.44
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1 (<router address)

prim dns 192.168.1.1(<router address)

that would be a typical ip set on a normal router/pc network .. all you would have to do for xbmc is fill in the same info but change the ip to 45 or something ..
