Hi,

Wondering if i can get a pointer or two here.

I am running on a laptop win xp pro (Xlink Host from now on), behind a windows xp home machine running ICS (gateway from now on).

Gatway is 192.168.0.1
Xlink Host is 192.168.0.3

We are on ADSL w/USB ADSL modem plugged into gateway (obviously)
I know my public IP, Xlink reports it correctly.
I have the Xlink port set as 30000.
I have Port 30000 UDP as an exception on the gateway's firewall.
I have set Port 30000 UDP to redirect to 192.168.0.3 in the 'Settings' page of ICS on the gateway.
Firewall on the Xlink Host is disabled, but i have added an exception for good measure anyway, as before port 30000 UDP.
Xlink Version is 7.0.5.9

I have remote destop running on the Xlink Host, with the same config as above on the Gateway only for port 3389 TCP, this works fine, i can connect to Xlink Host on TermSvcs/Remote Desktop from any other computer on the net.
BUT i STILL can get Xlink to report me as reachable.

Hopefully i have missed something fundamental.

in kai are u just going into the messenger mode , checking the status and then leaving ? try clicking on the globe at the top to switch into arena mode, have a browse through some arenas and then see what happens ..

what kind of firewall is it ?

Thankyou!!! I knew i had to be doing SOMETHING fundamentally wrong!
It's just windows XP ICS and windows XP firewall. It's working now.

I was under the impression that it would tell me all was ok just in messenger mode.

. I think i need a little more upstream for Halo2, headset doesn't seem to work too well when playing.
