It's not a problem/bug. It's because many users have Live updates on Gr2 and Halo2.
If you want to play with other users using Live updates you need them too.

Uknowingly I atempted to play, I thought it was saying download from the host.  The next thing I see is it asking me which live account to use.  Thats when I pulled the plug.  Am I banned from live?

I have a live blocker bios and my live accounts have passwords on them.

Did I acutually go to live or was that just the preliminary stuff thats part of the update feature in the game itself and not directly from live?

No you're not.

A ) Definitely not if you already have a Live account created before you modded the Xbox.

B ) No, not before you actually create a new account and sign in with a modded Xbox.
