Kai Engine Only For Dashboard
« on: October 17, 2004, 10:47:00 AM »

In trying to help someone use avaluanch as there UI i had no problems with the new kai.  However i went to check the integration with XBMC and i can connect to the point where i can see my friends list and the games installed, however, i cannot browse through the arenas while in XBMC.    has anyone else experienced this?  or help point me in the right direction.   As i stated above it works fine with avalaunch.

well, heres the thing... it worked before the latest kai update...so i just figure there might be a change in the UI code that XBMC and avalaunch dashboards are not aware of yet.

Wait for Avalaunch or Xbmc to update. It's not 100% supported atm.

What he's saying is that we have provided the API, or application programming interface, for the dashboard developers to use simple commands that are already recognized by the engine in order to return the results necessary to display a UI on the Xbox.  It is now up to the developers of said dashboards to integrate these features into their dashes.  We do not write Avalaunch or XBMC, therefore we can't control what appears on your Xbox screen in these applications - however we have provided a full interface for anyone who is interested to develop a UI within their dashboard or application.

Some of the dashboard developers are already hard at work on this - if you have ideas for them or want to ask questions please direct them to the appropriate team on their forums as most of them do not read our forums frequently.
