xbox media center has implemented it already. you start kai on your pc and log in. then you start xbox media center and click on this arrow symbol. then you see a kai screen where you can select your game and see who's online. you start your game and ..... play smile.gif

I know for XBMC but what i don't like is to start PC side of KAI, why ?  Because if you have Full KAI directly from Xbox without KAI on PC, then anybody with a computer (PC, MAC etc.,.) with an internet connection will be able to play.

It's the best thing to have.  Don't need to work on Mac version or other, except if someone want to chat at the same time, but me when i play, i don't have time to chat smile.gif

What you mean when you write: Kai will also be implemented directly in several Xbox dashboards  Does that involve no longer need to launch kai on PC ?

Xbox only, no more PC (except for internet connection) to play ?

Thanks!!!

OK my question is this - XBConnect and X-Link claim to work with any System Link software, but whenever I run them, I'm always confronted with a drop-down list of games to choose from. I read somewhere (maybe here on xbox-scene) that they needed drivers or special code specific to each game, sort of like Mame and other emulators do.

Will it be possible to play ANY system-link software on Kai? I'm specifically talking about XBox here, not PS2 or GC (i dont have lan adapters for them...yet).
Most of my emulators have system link support and I was wondering if it would be possible to play these over Kai, similar to how Kaillera works...seeing as the emu authors have already included system link ability with their emu's, is it possible to just take, say, Final Burn or FCEUltra and play against someone with the same emu/Kai version?

Think of it in terms of Mame vs NeoRageX - Mame needs drivers for each game or else it won't load them, whereas NeoRageX was developed to theoretically work with any neogeo game that came out (probably why it hasn't been updated in a while)

This is an open question btw - any advice is greatly appreciated smile.gif

Looking forward to this either way. Good luck with the release!

this app is gonna blow XBC out of the water! are you going to have a "pro" version, like with xbconnect, or are u not going to be gay and make us pay 25 some odd dollars to let us play chess with the opposition while waiting for a game to start? also, i saw the picture of the kai pc side, looked pretty tight, but how much ram is it going to take up? on my computer (pretty slow) xbc makes it run like a snail, it uses a lot of ram on my pc, does kai? also what launguege are you coding this program in?

no gay versions, we promise smile.gif (xlink will ALWAYS be free, with FULL functionality).

give kai 6 a try, all the info is readily available in the kai forum under the pinned topics.

A good question,

Yes, evo7 will support any sort of syslink game. This is a pretty unique feature of Kai:

> WarpPipe requires driver-type plugins for each game

> XBConnect does not support homebrew games (ie does not support std. IP addressing on the xbox) - so your emus wouldnt work.

It's been a pain in the ass to tunnel homebrew on xbox before, mainly through the need to get everyone on a different IP, but on the same subnet. Thankfully, Kai destroys this barrier by implementing a DHCP server internally, which supplies your xbox with a globally unique config, which is perfect for playing online homebrew. No need to play with settngs - just put ure xbox in DHCP (auto-config IP) mode, start Kai on PC, reboot box, play homebrew biggrin.gif

Im thinking that this advancement in Kai will fuel some pretty enjoyable homebrew play - as all the current emus/etc with syslink will "just work" with evo7.

TD

Sublime. Absolutely sublime.
As for Warppipe needing drivers for each game, I doubt that'll be an issue any time soon (only 3 games use lan, or something).
Now for the peeps:
I think all this talk about Kai squashing 'super tunnel software X' is a bit elitist isnt it? its not even out yet, and already ppl are sounding like ninty fans bigging up ninty's next console "it's gonna X, Y and Z, man!"

While I'm laying in wait for what is obviously going to be the best tunneling software around, lets not forget that XBConnect was the first on the scene, and it's what most tunneling people will have started out with.

Kudos to you guys developing it, and I feel for you when people say "put this in and put that in or else you won't be fulfilling my wants" - I've just started programming in C++ (wish me luck!) so that I can try XBox programming and it's true - we (meaning you guys) DO have lives!

And if we don't?  Like there is any alternative.  I certainly can't code it.  Take the time you need, keep some balance in your lives, have fun, and when it's ready - release it and enjoy a game amonst the fans.  The fact that everyone is so anxiously waiting is a testament to everyone enjoying the fruits of your efforts.

Well, if not anything else. Just knowing it will be soon sure does keep me on the XS Xlink Forums a lot waiting for the word that it can be downloaded. I would like to offer any assistance in helping to promote Kai in any way I can. Just let me know what you want, how you want it. And it will be done. Even if you need another location to host the app for new users once it is out. If you don't want money, maybe people can help this way.

Kai takes up much less ram then xbc... xbc is what is known as "bloatware" -- something that takes up much more ram then needed

As for donations to Team XLink, there's no more of that. You'll find out more when we roll it all out smile.gif

I hope you guy are sticking to your idea of having the software be "free and always free". smile.gif
