Ics Help
« on: February 05, 2004, 11:14:00 PM »

Hi

I have a home network arranged around a hub.  I have x-link setup so that I can gain access on my xbox, via xlink running on my Internet connected PC.

Problem is this - My PC and Xbox are in seperate rooms, and I cannot chat with players because of this.

I want to run xlink on my laptop - in the same room as my xbox - so that I can chat when necessary.  The problem is that my laptop of course is only connected to the internet via my main pc in the bedroom.

Can I do what I want to do?  How do I do it?

Thanks for any help in advance!!

my guess would be to install Xlink on the Laptop and not the PC.  Hook the laptop up to the Hub / router and run Xlink from it.

If you can surf the net with the laptop now, Xlink should run on it fine.

I assumed there would be some problem with forwarding ports and such.

I'll give it a go.

Thanks again.

the only issue you might have with that is if it is setup now with port forwarding, you might have to change the IP address of the machine to forward it to.
