Problems Connecting To Xlink- Netgear Rp614 Router
« Reply #15 on: January 21, 2004, 07:11:00 AM »

Has anyone actually gotten XLink and this Router working under Windows 2000. I always get the port forwarding error.
I've tried all the things listed,
port forward- tried both 34518-34519 ranged and 34518,34519 seperate, port trigger,
upnp is not supported under 2000 so thats a no go.
I've updated the router bios to the latest.
Tried it with the firewall on and off.
Adding the machine outside of the DMZ is not an option.
I ran the test and it looks like eveyone elses, unless I missed something.
Anything else you guys can think of besides the obvious upgrade to xp or just use two network cards and a crossover and skip the router all together.
Thanks a bunch.

Running:
------------------
Win 2000
Netgear rp614v2 router.
XLink 2.2.4
WinPcap3.0
Verizion DSL
 Westell 2200 mod.

Kai is a beta form and does not include all the features yet.  For example: you can't kick-a-dick.

People should definitely start heading that direction though.  It works very nicely and has a cool interface.  I have played a bit with it, and the only reason I don't completely switch is that there aren't enough people on it.

Well, I loaded Kai and I was able to see users and everything, no errors, nothing.
I'll give it a try with a game tonight.
Looks like I'll be hanging around the Kai posts for a while.
Thanks for the help.

HA!

there are 2 updates that have been out for a while for rc2, and people are STILL using the original omega release...the only way you can get people to switch is to shut down the old version, which will eventually happen...

I have the same router from netgear (rp614v2) and got the same error.
i cannot make it work.

so i think i will stay with xbconnect for now.

But i am ready to try Xlink as soon you fix the problem.

Have you updated your Xlink Messenger client?  Have you forwarded those UDP ports to your PC?  Chances are YOU have to fix YOUR problem YOURSELF.  There's only so much we can do here.
