Xlink Messenger
« on: January 05, 2004, 08:31:00 AM »

I think I have pretty much exhausted every idea for getting this to work I can come up with (including hours of browsing through these forums...). Soo as a last resort if anybody have any ideas feel free to reply.

The problem is the same as experienced by a range of users around here: I'm unable to get X-link Network Messenger to successfully log in. No matter what I try it returns the "Port Check Failed" message.

My setup is as follows:

Xbox connected with a PC and router (Cisco 677) in a switched network. Connected through Tiscali - Denmark (I however highly doubt that they block any udp ports)

Router<->Switch<->Xbox & Pc (running Xlink)

Ports 34518-19 forwarded in the routers nat table, no firewall running. Xlink messenger 2.2.4 (both normal and safe mode has of course been tried), WinPcap version 2.2 to 3.0.1 tried with no luck...

The Xlinktest diagnostic program returns the following:

Well well well finally figured out what was wrong with my configuration.

A update of the Cisco 677's firmware (now it is 2.4.2) fixed all problems! It seems the firmware prior to 2.4.2 has some issues with forwarding udp ports in specific ranges...
