Tip: Allways setup ur port forwarding, it may give u the impression it works, even if it dont

please give more info about your network setup and what version of xlink and winpcap are you running?

That's quite odd as XLink RC2 will deny access until the ports are forwarded.

Anyways, just make sure you've got the port forwards done on the router.

Your wireless connection is another issue. How is the XBox hooked up to the router? That's a key point in your setup. If it is wired to the wireless router (most have 4 or so Ethernet ports), then you're going to be out of luck with that connection method. You can either hardwire your PC to the router, or get everything wireless and get a Wireless Ethernet Bridge or those new Wireless Gaming Adapters (I suggest the WEB over the WGA).

If you do go totally wireless, then you'll have to nominate the correct MAC addresses of the XBox and the WEB (it's usually referred to as a WET11, as Linksys's WET11 was the first commercial WEB that worked with the XBox).

My Xlink also works without port forwarding. I have had no problems in hosting or joining games thru Xlink. I was surprised that it worked without forwarding ports but it did. I'm happy it did but if it ever stops working for some reason then I'm done playing online cause I'm not putting holes in my firewall.
