Is Xlink Working For You?
« on: December 02, 2003, 08:01:00 AM »

Just thought I'd start a poll to see where the major problems are with xlink.  I think xlink is great concept and hope to be playing soon.  Until then lets help the xlink crew by letting them know where the problems are.

Thanks

Kawikdx200,

Perhaps once the poll gets many more votes, we should have people that voted for the most popular answer describe their setup (whether it be that it works, or doesn't work).  For example, My setup (PC running XP home hardwired to wireless router to WET connected to Xbox) it works flawlessly.  However, if I try to run xlink from a wirelessly attached laptop running Win2000 Pro and change the WET seetings, all seems to go well, but then when someone tries to join my game, it gets a 'failed to join system link game'.  So I think the config is important.  It seems that my laptop issue is similar to a firewall issue, but I have no firewall running.  I do not think I can turn on UPnP in Win2000.  I have the MAC addresses correct.  So, we need to talk specifics about our configs then someone with a similar config that has it working can help out.......

Perhaps KAI will solve these issues           :D

I'ld say it works great for me, but i'll add a few things.
1.  sometimes laggy(certain games have no lag at all)
2.  sometimes I cannot communicate with someone, even though others in the game can.
3.  I sometimes get a connection failure while playing, then I would have to reenter the room from Bo-Xlink then boot the game again to get back in.
4.  Not enough users(maybe it's to complicated to set-up, but I don't think so)

I think #2 & #3 are probably caused by my configuration but I can't find the prob.

It's definitely a great app and service.

Where is the: I can sign into xlink but can't see any remote xboxes option?

When i join xlink all goes well, but where ever i go, i never get any remote xboxes.

will xlink work with a modded xbox without modchip? (i am using the exploit bert and ernie)

Please let me know...

edit: while typing this and pressing ok, i got first 1 and now 2 remote XBoxes, however when i hit LAUNCH.. project gotham racing 2 start, i open Multiplayer > System Link > Search for Games

But i always get: Sorry, No Games Found
any ideas? (couldn't find this in search...)

Xlink is the next best thing since peanut butter... I have noticed much more participation since I began using it several months ago. I can bet it's only going to get bigger. Not to mention I've been pimpin Xlink to friends of mine.... Diesel and Tankgirl are the latest additions...! :D  ... More to come in 2004!

I had a couple problems when I got it but now I have it working well. I have been playing some good games of Rainbow Six 3 on it. I'm not very good at it but I still have fun. Tankgirl and digitalpunk both have killed me a few times.
