I appricate your comments but I thought i'd point out that if you lose a match you do not go down in the rankings.
When you win a match against someone of a higher rank you move to the midpoint between the ranks.
so if you are ranked 100 and you beat someone who is ranked 50 you move to rank 75.
The only way you move down is by people leap-froging you, the exceptions to this are if you play someoone who is directly below you, or if you are in the top-ten and dont play a match for 7 days (they lose 5 rank places)
I will agree with you that there are not many players on there at the moment but it is early days and it is growing at a pace I am happy with, if not a little slower than i would have hoped.
I am also not arranging everything on my own, there is a lot of support been given from the xlink team, and also players on the ladder help out whenever they can, one has offered to run tourneys on top-spin so that I can get to play in one without having to deal with the admin of it.
All that I want is for people to have fun, and provide a little healthy competition.
Thanks and I hope that you join a ladder and take part in one of the tourneys.
