Xlink And Satelite Broadband

OK.

Games like Halo, Brute Force and some others that require great amounts of bandwidth, won't work the best. By that I mean, don't expect to play with more than 3 or 4 people who have good pings with you.

For games like THPS4, you can get away with your connection speed, but let someone else host who may have a higher upload bandwidth than yourself. You'd still be able to host, but maybe 1 - 2 players, which isn't the best.

Your download speeds are great, but your uploads are pretty poor. Leave the majority of hosting to someone with a better upload bandwidth...

Also, bandwidth depends on no. of consoles AND no. of players on each console. Your XBox still needs to send out twice as much network traffic if you're playing Halo with two people on your XBox instead of one.

So since my upload speeds are flakey and the only game I would probably play online is Halo, I would only be limted to 3-4 player matches of which none I will never host? This should be ok with me since I still suck at Halo and the prime Frag target. LOL

I've never played any games online, PC or XBOX/XBOX Live so all this is new to me.

So how critical are upload speeds to online gaming vs download speeds? or is it pretty much 50/50

The more upload, the better host you'll make. The more download, the more amount of people you can play with (as long as the host has good upload and everyone else has good download).

Just try it for yourself and see. Location is also a big factor in latency, so don't be too upset if you can't play against someone across the world ie. Me (I'm from Melbourne, Australia).

Whoever Crazy/Church was and I went in your game not knowing what to expect, I'm sorry for the expereince but I'm sure you had fun killing a lifeless player on screen. tongue.gif

I think I'll be taking my xbox and laptop to my buddies house next time and open up the ports on his router to see how everything is there.

The funny thing is everything was running fine for the first couple of minutes and then all of a sudden extreme lag... oh wells... I guess my connection cant keep up with the bandwidth needs. I'll see if I can learn how to play TonyHawk now.

One more quick quesion. What are some low bandwith games out there on xlink?
