Btw,   I've never even been on this forum before today, nor will I after today.    I was told of the bashing and checked out.   Everybodies got to have a defense.

That seems like a weak attitude, I mean, differences aside...you should still try and help them.

OH, The unoffical forums you mean?   We got our own over at www.xbconnect.com.

  sleeping.gif

I don't see why you would knock the forums here...They are still here to help you and your users. Don't be such a dick that you can't appreciate that.

Perhaps if you don't feel like you need them, someone should just shut them down here?

You got a piss poor attitude man...I am trying to make sense of it, but I just can't.

Let it go.

I appreciate the fact we have forums here thats awsome, but do you see anybody from other major game sites, including MS, doing support on every forum that has a thread about their program?

By me giving a smart ass come back for your smart ass remark above you say I have a shitty attitude.  Son, if you want to have a battle of wits you better get out a pad of paper and pen and start taking notes.   I ownz j00  ph34r.gif  blink.gif

If you don't feel that this is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) xbox site on the net, then I don't know what to tell you.

What are you trying to prove here? Stop being such a jackass. There are xbconnect forums here. That's all I was telling you, and instead you want to act like a kid blasting obscenities...Really, you aren't helping your case at all.

It was a freakin typo man, we all make them...it's not grammer wars or anything...

You keep repeating that line that TD posted...why?

Granted, its him telling you that he thinks you are stupid, but its clearly because he thinks your philosophy is flawed...to keep repeating it is childish. Grow up man...you said what you wanted to say, now move on.

It is sad that it happened....  Not one follow up post to flat saying cool/congrats...   If it was such a non topic with XBC why would you post that first?  Dosen't make sence to me either....

Apparently you missed the 2nd post of the thread. Good job. It wasnt till the 3rd post, that someone had to blow things out of proportion.

QUOTE (DrSuess @ Oct 23 2003, 08:35 PM)
From and end user stand point all I want is a client that I can run from my XBOX .. NOT MY PC.

My XBOX is on a complete different FLOOR than my PC so I don't want to have to run up and down the stairs everytime I want to play a little online XBOX.

From what I have been reading, besides LIVE, BO-XLINK comes the closest to what I am looking for.  I have not tested it yet, but it looks and read like it.

Now from a developer stand point, I would think you would care about what the end user wants or you will be developing these tools for nothing other than personal knowlodge.

I may be the only person with this view, but then again i am entitled to it.

Good points DR. Suees from my understsanding though the way it works is you still have to turn your computer on in a seperate room to get the tunnel to start.  Then you go to the x-box (downstairs) and from there you can join rooms and play.  So the first step involves the computer it is not a stand alone x-box connection like Live.

One end user way to look at it is I do not want to void my warranty on my box to play online.  When you mod your x-box your warrrenty is voided and you will basically have to by a new xbox if anything goes wrong.  You are also treading in the grey areas of legal issues regarding the uses of modded boxes here in the US.

No flaming m8 ;-).  This was an intellegent post.

Correct me if I have the way BO X-link works when you set it up to run "like live"

This has gotten out of hand. XBC and XLink are both good programs in their own respects and each side is speaking some truths. However, XLink does have an upper hand on one obvious thing, freedom of speech. I haven't seen any of the XBC members' posts been edited or deleted by admins. As to be expected, you'll probably get flamed for any promotion of XBC in this forum. TD stands by his product 100% and loves his users to do the comparisons themselves.  He may have lost a few users to XBC by telling them to try it for themselves, but has gained much more respect from the ones that stuck with XLink after trying XBC. I've tried all 3 tunneling softwares and made my own decision on what is best. XBC should take the same stance for their program and allow all promotion of other options in their forums. The fact that it wasn't permitted in the past shows how insecure the site admins are about the program.

As for where the support forums are being hosted for each program, that's just shows the direction of which the developers are aiming. The members of X-S see XBA as a breeding ground for those less inclined to try things for themselves and form their own opinion on how to use their XBox. That's great for someone who wants to build a huge userbase regardless of the amount of support they'll need to provide to the "noobies". XBA seems like a great place for hardcore gamers. TD has chosen X-S as its host because he wants to be surrounded by those who share and can contribute to his passion for the homebrew scene.

In my opinion, XBC is great for those who just want someone to control their gaming and struggle with operating a computer. XLink is great for those who are more inclined to explore the capabilities of their XBox and are looking for a fast/stable program.

PS: As a developer, I believe that TD has the upper hand just by overall design.

sad.gif  I'm not a cool admin, what a shame

Power happy noobs eh? I've been an op since before almost everyone else on the team, excluding Tod, Sardog, Splitboxer, and Visor. I brought on many of these ops that you see now. As to power hungry? - when was the last time you've seen me ban without a legitimate cause? As to the XLink/XBC debate everyone's overlooking one large thing.....

BoXlink can never fully suceed (sp?) because of the fact it has to be circulated via IRC, or some other p2p sending device, as to chat, last time I checked, the Xlink chat was based in IRC, though since I don't have the program anymore, haven't looked at it. User ratio wise, everyone must agree XBConnect right now has the largest percentage of players ( all of whom may just play HALO BG CTF) but that's beside the fact that yes, we do have more. The XBA merge, I don't even understand, or like ( they didn't like the signature) I've always been a fan of our own little "dark" forums. If I was MS ( I know they've heard of both, I talk with their support guys all the time) they side more towards GSA and XBC mainly because we're 100% legit, and flat, you MUST admit, your boxlink and xbclink are both kinda "underhanded" if you catch the drift.  The last thing that comes to my head, is why the hell do posts like this get so blown out of proportion, it doesn't make much sense. But you attract more flies with honey flat, and you saying how much we suck doesn't really earn you any brownie points.  rotfl.gif
