happy to help. halo1 isnt xbox live compatible so you cant play that online, but halo 2 does. halo2 has around 10maps built in that you can play online plus Bungie released a map pack add-on with like 9 more maps. it is free now i believe it should be in the xbox live marketplace? also bungie just recently released 2 more maps as a separate map pack, this is $4 in the xbox live marketplace. i wouldnt buy your son a headset though as many gamers have very "colorful" vocabularies. the first map pack was released on a disk you can buy (gamestop ebgames walmart figure just about anywhere)
It looks like this
http://www.gamestop....oduct_id=950752

however since it is free if you get it in the xbox live marketplace i wouldnt buy the disk.

Halo 1 isn't XBL compatible however you can play onling with XBConnect or Xlink, if your network works with XBL most likely it'll work with those two.

Halo 2 is fully XBL compatible and I believe all the maps are free for download now.
