I've been trying to connect to Xbox Live for about a week now on my Xbox original. At first, it said I should check my router blah blah blah. Now it is saying there is an update that must be run and it tries to start but it  never goes anywhere. I tried three times letting it go for over 30 minutes each time.

I'm not sure what's going on. I've tried running another xbox through the same cord and router and it updated fine. Anyone know what it could be?

Might be worth taking it to a friend's house to see if it updates, Also check your network settigns in any case - you may want to try using DHCP if you're on static, or static if you're on DHCP.

My computers just got all gunked up with dhcp/static ip's
