Xbox Live Is Not Responding.

Ack!

All right, major crisis (for me anyways) regarding my Xbox 360 and Halo 2!

Please Note: I have already phoned 1-800-4MYXBOX twice and talked to two different guys and have tried several ways to get my problem resolved. Unfortunately, to no avail.

The Problem

Okay, so I have just received my Xbox 360 back courteousy of Microsoft because of it's 2nd repair (both times were disc tray problems). Anyway, so I get my console back, I recover my gamertag back from my 360 at my dad's house and continue online. I insert my Halo 2 disc and boot it up, right? Well, I choose my profile name, my gamertag to sign on with, and proceed to go on Xbox Live. BUT NO, I get a little pop-up saying that there is an update that needs to be downloaded before I can do anything live on Halo 2. So I'm like 'okay, that's cool' and select "Get Update".

I am taken to a familiar download screen that looks like the one on the original xbox. But this time it's different. I am told not to turn off my Xbox console and that the download is underway - unfortunately, NO PROGRESS IS BEING MADE. It tries to download but ends up failing and says "Xbox Live is not responding. Try again later."

Uhmm, YES IT IS responding, I was literally JUST online in Perfect Dark: Zero playing with people.

Anyway, so since there actually is no current update for Halo 2, something is definitely wrong. I've tried recovering my account a few times more, I've deleted all my Halo 2 content from my hardrive and I've done maitenence on my hardrive (using the XX Left Bumper, Right Bumper XX trick) and nothing has worked.

What I originally thought the problem was was that when I was on my dad's 360, I downloaded the Blastacular Map Pack update, right? Well, I was playing on the new maps with my account there, but now since I've recovered it on my 360 here at my moms, the maps aren't downloaded yet and so I thought maybe that had something to do with it. Who knows?

UPDATE MAY 9, 2007: As of now, I just finished booting my 360 and internet connection at the same time, and also tried my friend's Halo 2 disc to try and solve this problem. Unfortunately, no luck. What I think I'm going to do is getting a completely blank hardrive and put it into my console and try loading Halo 2. If this works, I believe the only way to fix this problem is to buy a new hardrive; or so it seems. =S

Anyway, I'm really just looking for some insight. Any input whatsoever will be appreciated guys! Many kudos and thanks to whomever helps lead to my problem being solved! If you need to know more info or want to ask a question, please do so and I'll be more than happy to answer. =)

UPDATE MAY 14, 2007: As of now, I have just tried my friend's blank hardrive in my console. Afterwhich I progressed to putting my Halo 2 game in the disc tray. After that, I started up the game, got that necessary update because it's an original Xbox game, and then got to the main menu. At this point I was feeling confident, mind you. NOW, create a new profile named 'Halo001' and choose my gamertag. It looks for a second as if it will sign in and then BAM! a pop-up says there's an update for download. So I am now a little fretful but of course choose "Get Update". After I'm taken to the next download screen, nothing happens. That's right, nothing. So it's official...now not even a blank hardrive can save me now. WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO? I'm slowly running out of ideas, folks.
