Xbox Live Not Found, But Not Banned?

QUOTE
If you simply get the message "Xbox Live not found", then check your XYZ settings. Specifically, we're looking at row Y, the third and fourth characters. If these say "C1", "C2", "C3", or "8A" (NOT A8!), then you have a hardware mismatch problem with your EEPROM. Typically, you'll also see "AFFF" or "0000" in the first half of Z as well. This most frequently arises from people modifying their EEPROM settings so that they can play PAL software on an NTSC Xbox, or vice versa.

harrytasker points out that using the Enigmah PAL-NTSC switcher can possibly restore this:

You do *not* need to replace your EEPROM because of a C1/C2/C3/8A error.

Now, from this, it would sound like I was messing with the EEPROM and messed up the Region or something like that.  I checked this, but it's NTSC Region 1, and it has always been that.  This "Xbox Live Not Found" came out of nowhere, after having Live work perfectly for a while.  I haven't been changing stuff around.  Can anybody help me?

Xbox Live Not Found, But Not Banned?

I did some searching in the XYZ Codes thread and there were actually quite a few people who got an 8A Y code, but none of them resolved their problem without getting a new eeprom and new hard drive.  So, my guess is the Xbox actually is banned, even though you never get the "Modified Xbox" error screen.  After finding no help with the 8A errors, I just gave in and used a new eeprom.  It works now, I expected it to, even though the thread says I didn't need a new one.

Also, the chip is an Xecuter 2.6 CE on a v1.6 NTSC with the X2 5035 BIOS.  Live Blocking is enabled, so I don't know how I got banned unless they really are scanning hard drive sizes/files.
