it's interesting how all you people are bashing the on line romance/marriage.

My GF's sister met her husband through EverQuest. They were on-line together for 6 months before they met. After on a few meetings in person they married. They've been married now for 5 or 6 years, have 2 kids and seem to be just as happy with each other as the day they met.

Before I knew them I had the same opinion as many of you, but after seeing how happy they were together I started thinking about and it made a lot more sense.

1. Meeting someone on-line and getting to know them before meeting them in person skips right over the skin and into the personality. Someones personality is where the REAL compatibility happens, falling in love with someone based purely on that is the making of a LONG LASTING relationship. It's like Ron White says "they have plastic surgery that can fix anything, but you can't fix stupid". How someone looks is compatibility as well, but meeting the person FIRST before the flesh gets all the superficial junk out of the way. She might be a blonde where in person you would have passed her up for the red head... etc.

2. Opening your dating pool to the world instead of just your own little shanty town dramatically increases your chances of finding someone who is more compatible with you. Would you rather pick your bride from a few thousand or a few hundred million people? Not to mention, for those of you who live in the woods, it dramatically cuts down on the possibility of dating your cousin.

3. Yes there are SOME cases where the person at the other end turned out to be something other then what they say. But in all reality those cases are pretty rare, and overly sensationalized by the media. Yeah the internet does allow for that level of anon but in those cases they typically talked on line once or twice before meeting and both lived locally. I should HOPE that if you spend weeks and months talking with this person daily you should know them enough to sniff out a fake. No sexual predator is going to spend weeks and months courting someone on the other side of the country when they could get someone local inside a week.

With that said... I predict a LONG and FRUITFUL marriage.

If you don't like it, stop reading. I personally don't care about the more market-oriented news-pieces, but that doesn't mean I'm entitled to start bitching about it

i've met alot of now good friends while online gaming .. if you took a second and stopped screaming "IMMA OWNZ U N00BZ!" into the headset you might realize theirs actually people on the other end of the mic .. this is not the first time this has happend by far, their was an online wedding in PSO for the dreamcast ..

congrats to this couple .. congrats to Kat and Outlaw who i know from kai as well (ya im hicaow) .. lifes to short to worry about how and where u meet , at least they met ..

oh and this is xbox releated news and thats why it was posted ..

I agree with twistedsymphony 110% The compatability we have is phenominal! A I never have to worry about coming home from work and hopping on the box! And it's interesting how well we get along, we do sometimes resolve issues by getting online and bashing each others heads in... much safer and therepudic than doing it in real life. And Greetz hicow been a while we gotta hookup and play some more
