Question About The Game Upates And Installs That Come With Xbl

I have a modded system and Halo 2 is loaded on the hdd.  To play on XBL I have to use my Original BIOS and a store bought game.  If I download updates for Halo 2 through XBL, will they work with my game loaded on the system(thats used when I want to do system link and stuff).  I know I got the new maps online and installed them on my hdd copy and they work on XBL.
