What If?
« on: January 26, 2006, 12:33:00 AM »

I can't seem to find a similar question answered anywhere, so I'll post.
(long time reader, first time user/poster)

I cancelled my XBL subscription prior to modding my box. (softmod)
However I did not remove my gamertag from the xbox itself.

When I went to play Halo2, me not thinkin still had my network plug still in, and Halo2 tries to logon.
it instantly jumps to the Main Menu (game menu play, multiplayer etc) but hasn't logged onto XBL.

If you try to load XBL from the msdash, it jumps to Evox (or XBMC atm) straight away, does this mean that PBL is auto blocking XBL, meaning I am safe?

Now I want to rejoin XBL (as my 360 is on it's way, March 2nd release date here) but I am unsure if my Gamertag would have been banned as technically it wasn't active.

I was thinkin of callin customer service and making a large story to see if they will tell me, but I don't think that will work (althou a similar speil asking questions on how XBL upgrade works on v1.0 boxes did work)

Also if I am banned, do MS link credit card numbers, and contact details? I.e. if I need a new tag, do I need to use a different name and CC?

The other thing that seems interesting, I upgraded the HDD, and when I did the GT never got copied over to the new HDD, considering I copied all files across.
I plan to reinstall the stock HDD and uninstall the softmod (i made a image of the HDD before modding) and never unlocked the drive at all, meaning assuming the box hasn't been banned I should be able to go back on and they will not detect a thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

No they don't link contact details, you can have different gamertags under one CC as I've had in the past.

When you have your 360 just import the gamertag across, from what you say the only way you could of been banned is accidentally connection to Live when the chip was on?

If that is the case it's a high probability, but if you just import the gamertag and it won't let you access Live just sign up a new one.

Thanx smile.gif

If the GamerTag has been banned (at the moment i'm assuming it is, I used Phoenix Loader, and It is always active, no on/off switch) and I import it into the 360, it's not going to automatically ban the 360 from using live (regardless of GamerTag) also?

You say you've had multiple GamerTags to the one CreditCard, were any of those Tags banned? if so it had no effect on your other tags?

I'm thinking it's probably easier just to think up a new gamertag, not worth the risk.
(pity, considering everybody outside XBL also knows me by my tag, even non-xbox owners)
