----xbox Live Router Ports
« on: January 09, 2006, 09:43:00 AM »

Step 1.  Enter your router's IP address into a web browser,  example http://192.168.0.1, your router's manual should tell you, If your able to browse your router's web page, you should be able to see what devices are attached to the router.

If your unable to, go to your Xbox:settings --- and then :Network Settings, on IP address, it should be automatic, and it should display what IP it's been using, if not you can manually change it to within the specified setting of your router, check your router's manual + web configuration for this info (usually located in DHCP Server address)

Step 2.  After you have found out what your Xbox IP address is, in your router's web configuration, you want to Reserve that particular address so every time your Xbox boot up, the router will use that address each time. This is usually located in Address reservation or something similar. When entering the IP address for opening ports, you want to enter your Xbox's address.  Use the 2 port below if entering manually.
     (optional- continue to step 3)

Step 3.  Opening your ports for Xbox Live, Xbox Live primarily uses these 2 ports.  Port: 3064 and Port:88

Easiest step for opening this ports is UPnP (Universal Plug and Plug)  If enabled, the router automatically opens the port needed for any service that works with UPnP like bittorent, etc. On D-Link routers you want to enable Gaming mode.

If all these steps have been complete successfully, your Xbox should boot up with a reserve IP address, and your router should forward/triggered the necessary ports, and you should connect to Xbox Live firewall-free. Hope this helps
