So the $70 one will be a retail package?  Can you just use the card from it to extend a current XBL account?

I also wonder how the $20 off coupon will work.

The old packages of Crimson Skies with a headet, communicator, and a year of XBL for $60 seemed much nicer...

Just curious, my account is up in October.

What a con. Current xbox live 12 month subscription card is $42.95 from amazon. Yet for the 360 its gonna cost $59.99. What I don't get, though, is that if old xbox live accounts are going to be carried over, why don't people just buy the old xbox live stuff?

[edit]

Oh, the 360 one comes with an extra free month. But is that just the first time when you make a live account or what? Its so much a better plan to use a xbox live trial thing then buy the old xbox live cards. Maaaadnesss.

could we just buy a regular xbox 12 month card and use it on 360.. or would we have to activate it on the xbox and transfer it to the 360?

This sucks the people who would buy the biggest package are all hardcore gamers thought had probably already bought the xbox 360 that came with a headset so why am I paying for it.
I MEAN WHY GIVE SOME ONE MARKETPLACE POINTS AND A HEADSET IF THEY NEED TO BY THE XBOX 360 WITH A HDD THAT ALREADY COMES WITH A HEADSET!

I dont find the price THAT expensive. I mean it is 69.99 for a 12 month subscription, the communicator (which is kinda useless for the Prenium pack buyers though), 20$ off a game and some marketplace money. Now be aware that we are talking about a far improved XBOX live service with facilities like video chat and stuff like that, meaning that maintance costs etc are expected to go up. Besides even at 69.99 its like 5.9 bucks per month...not THAT much...

as i recall 69.99 was the price of the Live retail pack with Mechassault for the longest time, so its not that big of an increase

and i wouldnt be surprised if they let you use 2 headsets on a single xbox this time around so a second headset might come in handy

From what everything is saying, you should renew your subscription, before it get's more expensive. But none of this is saying if a year renewal will get more expensive, just the retail packs/cards sold in stores.  I can't see them uping the renewal price after launch...but then again I couldn't see two different system packs, a version w/o a hard drive and a system that is supposted to be HD benchmark, launching without a fucking component hookup.  So you never know, they might up it 60 dollars just do be dickheads.

Wow, I started rambling.  What I menat was "Ya renew now"
