Signing Up For A New Account

I had xbox live about a year ago and then let my subscription run out!  I want to connect again but it says i have to create a new account.  I have tried to do this but it says i need a subscription code?

I don't want to buya  starter kit as i already have the headset and dash loaded and only want to subscribe.  Is this possible?

Ive looked on the xbox connect website but it keeps saying to get a starter kit surely this is unfair to people who have previously bought and subscribed to xbox live in the past?

Check on ebay and the buy/sell part of this forum for people selling a two months free subscription .

You know the one , the scratch card you get free with some live enabled games
