AHHhhh im on verizon too, but the error i get is, techical configuration issues... i wonderi if my problem is also the same???

Well I'm definately NOT on Verizon as I'm in Scotland (Demon) - I had exactly the same issue, except I was playing StarWars:Battlefront.
Before it happened lag got really bad an everyones voices were echoing or worse.

Could it be that Xbox Live went offline for a bit while they brought in new measures to spot mods and ppl cheating on Halo?

From what I've read about this so far it looks as though Bungie are definately doing something on their servers, but perhaps MS are making changes too - would've though there'd be a dashboard update or something though?

spent like 4 hours checking everything over and over.

then i call MS and sit on hold for like 45 minutes.

then a jamaican lady comes on, asks for my name and tag, then asks me for my ISP, i say verizon, the she says "im sorry, all of the verizon customers are haveing problems, is there anything else i can help you with?

so how long has this been going on? its 9:16 pm now, US eastern.

Xbox over Verizon DSL is back up on Long Island, 10:56pm EST (finally).

Just letting you know. Might want to go try it again now.

that error in the y line is common in xbox's that are using routers that dont have the necessary ports blocked, or unblocked not sure of the lingo, but pretty much just try blocking the live ports and yoou should at least be able to sign on. unless Verizon is just f'd up
