@dude - this happened to me the night before the update was released. i think MS was having some server problems, or you (and me) were logged in with people that had really bad connections. maybe a combination of both.

@halogod - why don't you enlighten us with what is installed on your xbox? mod chip? soft mod? did you have modified maps and all that other stuff Bungie was warning people about?

*EDIT: BTW I got the autoupdate last night at around 10:45pm EST. Before I DL'd I had my Xenium clear my E:/CACHE and format X, Y, Z to clear them. I also delelted from the MS Dash all the "game saves" from XBMC, Emulators, MAME and Avalaunch; just to be on the safe side. I also erased the Map Packs that I got. I will reinstall them today from my Map Pack Disk. Everything I have is stored on F:/ and G:/ drives, nothing on C:/ or E:/ (except Xenium skins on E:). My box boots from F:

Ok, then your account is banned from Matchmaking. This was the warning they gave out before the AU release. Sorry about your luck, I'm sure it sucks. But you should still be able to make custom/arranged games with friends on Halo 2, but your level ranking will never increase (i think).

As for the rest of Live service you should be ok, but who knows what info Bungie is turning over to MS after the mighty Banhammer gets finished. So enjoy the rest of what Live has to offer. Not sure what else it has, since I only really do Halo 2 and a little Republic Commando.

Got the update yesterday,

Today I logged on with my modded xenium 1.6 160GB hdd xbox and was able to play a game no problem.  Well, I suck, which is a problem, but I was able to play.

logged on a few hours ago,  got the update, ran mm just fine check my sig for my xbox. A guy from bungie posted that what this update really did was make the banning for cheating automatic, like you dont have to post gt's and then they dont have to review it it just see's the file and bans. They did a great job.

There's no garuntees at all, but it looks like if you don't have modded content, you don't get banned.
