but i got another HDD, do i still need to go about getting another EEProm thing? and also this other HDD i got gets and error 05 when i try to boot to the MSdash. is that fixable? also another quesion.. if i use a freinds eeprom that also gets on xbox live, would that be bad? and i tried to rebuild the HDD to factory defaults with slayers but it still boots up with error 05 with the modchip off. i hope i can get this working i wanna get back on live!

Lock you hard drive with a new eeprom in it.  will fix your 05 error

ok this will sound dumb, but wouldnt the nwer HDD have its own new eeprom in it already? or do i really have to purchase one? and what about using my friends? would that effect them on xbox live?

also the hdd i got banned with.. was a 120 gig.. the new one i got is a normal retail drive.. does that make any difference? sorry for all the questions.. i dont know much about this

NEW VIRGIN EEPROM + virgin STOCK HD + XBL Gamertag = XBOX Live!
or
NEW VIRGIN EEPROM + virgin upgraded HD + Non-flagged GT = XBOX Live!

As for the error 5, that means that your HDD hasn't been locked, therefor your M$ retail bios (Needed to go on XBL) can't load.

Get a virgin eeprom and flash it using configmagic Final or similar program, then lock your virgin HD using that eeprom.

If the HD is larger than stock, create a new gamertag.

Check the tutorials, but read the marriage theory 101 thread on the pinned topics before you even do anything, just to get the facts straight.

PS: You can use your friends eeprom as long as he's not using it for xbox live, or he hasn't used it on live after june/july of 2004. Failing to do so, will cause both xboxes to be banned from xbox live.

The eeprom is data contained within a chip on your Motherboard. So the HD won't have an eeprom, unless it's there from a previous backup.

Alrigh yes!!! i may be inluck, well turns out the HDD i got is my freinds old xbox hdd wich had a previous back up on it as you said, so would i still be able to use that eeprom even tho i rebuilt the HDD to retail with slayers? he never used that one to get on live.. so it should be safe!!

alright... apparently the eeprom that was on the stock HDD wont allow the 120 gig HDD i have to boot.. does anyone know why this would be? i updated the eeprom with the stock HDD then put back in the 120 gig, and it got an error 06

Ok sorry for a 4th post really am, but i got the 120 gig working, and succusfully flashed with the new eeprom. but the stock got the error 06 now. so anyways i have a swicth for my modchip and it said in the marrige 101 topic that you could go back on with the old HDD if it had a switch, so is that true? or must i create a new gamer tag? and if so will it charge my freinds credit card to create a new gamer tag? again i apologize for the  4th post but i wanna be sure about this before going back on live...
