I Think This Is It, The Hd Serial Changer
« on: July 15, 2005, 04:52:00 AM »

I was searchiong on google and found this, all you have to do is unlock your hd, hook it up to your pc, and it might work, someone check it out, i will try it also.
just go to the ninaries folder, and open the .exe.
heres the link
www.angelfire.com/zine2/wgarth16/VolumeSerialChanger.zip

good luck
if correct this should unban an actual hd serial, or even swap an hd serial so if you use a stock dirive for live, you can swap your large hds serial with your stock...maybe
we'll see

Well... i checked the proggy, it seems pretty simple. But I really doubt it will change the HD Key.

I hope it works mate, let me know if it works. Like I said, you can maybe change the serial number, but the HD Key is embedded in the HD firmware... it's encrypted and all.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

QUote from site
"SalvationDATA HDD Firmware Repairer PRO can change model number and serial number of HDDs, it can also modify the maximum value of HDDs and restore S.M.A.R.T list; Reads and writes on HDD firmware zone; Start up the built-in selfscan function of the defective HDD..."

if we can change the serial on the xbox, why not on a xbox hdd or any hdd for that matter.

its about time it has come across our way.

im pretty sure it will work. i have about 10 stock hdds.

can i find out if the hdds have been on live or are banned maybe.

i had them for a while, some b4 halo 2 came out. but i did not label them or anything, cause i had no idea about marriage at that time. so if i can find out then all i need is some 2mth free trials and eeproms and i can test this theory.

you kow if they can do it for wd's someone will figure out how to make it universal. This would be a huge break through and a lot less stress on the pocketbook.

Edit: actually i cruised the site they make it for several other hdd makers but they are jsut called hdd repairers not the firm waer repairer. Although it says that they can read and write the hdd firmware. so this might be our lucky day on the scene

Wow you know... This idea has crossed my mind many times in the past, and I am sure it has for others but the general conclusion I always came to was "someone would have found it by now."

sounds awsome but in order to test it out using the demo you have to have a specific drive

"This free version can only restore typical firmware malfunction of Maxtor 541DX series HDDs but not for others. If you need to restore other series of Maxtor HDD, you can purchase our professional version."

This is posted on the website when you look at the demo details.
