you could get a new eeprom, that can usually correct the c2 error. When you upgraded your hdd your eeprom could have gotten corrupted which will give you the c2 error also. So just check out the b/s/t/ forum and get a new eeprom. and like big dawg said, if your trying to use a hdd that has been on live, dont.

the other eeprom i have shows 00A8-4860 in Y, which i thought it meant it detected a modchip currently on(never happened), yet it connects to xbox live fine :S.  very confusing tongue.gif

actually i've just been using the xenium 2.3.0 OS to change the eeprom settings, trying all sorts of combinations of PAL/NTSC (can display both), the dvd regions, and the game regions.  I keep a backup of the eeprom so i know what it originally was set on, but none the less it doesn't work.

Also i read the XYZ codes thread, and it mentions 00A8-4860 as being common among banned eeproms, and i've been banned plenty of times, it is always the common Y code.

i'm probably gonna end up buying a broken xbox on ebay and swapping parts with an xbox i have in my basement.

no that code there is a normal code, if you code had a 6 in the second set of number like so
Y: xxxx-6xxx = banned
and changing parts could only complicate the process, any thing that has software with it can make your eeprom have an error, like the C2. just try a new eeprom, 10 bucks its worth a shot
