Well mate, first off, xbox Live is a service that requires a broadband connection.

The bandwith usage will always vary, depending on the game you're playing, and how big is the session you're playing at, if you're hosting, the graphics in the game, etc.

I have a 6 mbps download speed and a 784 kbps cable, and since i usually host big rooms in Ghost Recon 2, I turn my downloads OFF for the time I'm playing. You can alwas resume them anyways, and that way, you experience no lag at all.

Everybody knows at my house, than whenever I'm gaming on Live!, there's no downloads or streaming of any kind. Just browsing allowed.
