Xbox Live....worth The Money?

ok here's my situation:  I recently got a brand new xbox and upgraded the hdd to an 80 gb maxtor.  i wasnt completely sure if my gt was flagged or not and unfortunately it was so i got banned.  so i said screw it and unsubscribed from live (i was still under the 2 month free trial).  so basically i can either:

1. get a new hdd, new eeprom and new gt.  
2. stay off live and just play as a guest with my roommate on his stock box whenever.  
3. i can do an account recovery for my old gt and use it on my roommates xbox when i want to play on live.  

only problem is im not sure if live is worth all this trouble and for the 50 bucks???  what do u guys think?  how many of u play on live and/or went thru similiar trouble to stay on xbox live????  just want sum extra input and opinions on this....

i've never been banned (knock on wood) but I do play. It is by far the best online gaming experience out there. There are many people that get a new hdd and new eeprom and new gt. If you still have your old hdd, you could always use that. get a new eeprom and you can even use your old gt (asuming that your old hdd wasnt banned) I put a vote for live, less lag and less cheaters.

i actually am just gonna keep playing on xbc and xlink kai.....i can always jump on as a guest with my friend if i wanna play on live.  all i play is halo1, i only play halo2 sumtimes.  halo1 on xbc PWNS halo2 on live.

In my personal opinion, XBOX Live is worth the money.

Less cheating, rarely some lag but not enough to ruin the game, thousands and thousands of different people from all over the world to play agains and compete with.

cheating and lag are HORRIBLE on halo2 live.  people use the standby modem glitch and lag all over the place, its ridiculous.  on top of the that, some of the gametypes bungie sets are really stupid.... at least on xbc u can play ur own custom gametypes.

You have good and bad stuff on pretty much everything.

Stand by is why I stopped playing HALO 2 on Live, but I still play some other games that are great, like GR2.

i play h2 on live, but usually only with friends in custom games these days, pgr2 is also a great one


...and ultra bust a move (i love bust a move games, but theres never anyone on Live playing it)

if there's other games that u like to play on live then thats cool, i understand.  but all i personally play on live is h2 and with the cheating and lag on h2 live its just not worth it.

Halo2 on Live is much better since the patch came out, sure some people still standby but they'll get booted. I used to be standbyed everyday, but just twice since the patch.

standby is still there.... ppl have found new ways to standby and get away with it, its ridiculoud.  idk tho, it can still be fun to play on live with ur friends, so i think i might do an account recovery on my room mates xbox and play on there.
