Xbox Live Setup Problems...
« on: May 16, 2005, 08:20:00 PM »

Okay,  I am usually pretty good at messing with the network setting up and such...  I have a modded XBOX with a switch...  So that not a problem...  When the switch is on, I have used XBConnect several times and it works fine...  Now I have the swtich off and am setting up XBOX live, then I get to the last option and it says Network Error, and suggests a few things that really are not the problem as it seems...  Here is my setup:

D-link DI-604 with a chord to my PC, my fathers PC, my Bro's XBOX and My XBOX...  I am able to ftp connect to my xbox just fine, so I know the connection is okay...  I just cant figure out how to get XBOX live to start working...  Any suggestions would be great...

My internet is AOL Broadband...  I tryed the PPPOE setup with username and such with no affect...  On my router AOL works just fine without setting up the PPPOE option on it...

Thanks!

my guess would be it has to do with having multiple xboxes ont eh network, perhaps the live ports are forwarded to your bros xbox

The C2 error is supposed to mean hardware misconfiguration. Generally caused by dashboards switching back and forth from one video mode to the other.

Try loading enigmah videomode switcher. Switch from one mode to the other, and back, finally staying mode your box works (PAL/NTSC) and reboot.

If it still doesn't work, try restoring your eeprom with the oldest eeprom backup you have.

Hope it helps.

That's exactly what it is. Both boxes are "Fighting" each other to get those pakages, and it's all useless since they're colliding even on the connection phase.

You have to separate those xbox and asign different IP's to each one, and then, redirect  or forward the ports.

Here, just in case you need an example:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

S= Source port D= Destination Port

Outgoing from Xbox, to the gateway (Router)

XBOX 1 -> (Port S:3074 D:3074) -> Gateway -> XBOX LIVE
XBOX 2 -> (Port S:3074 D:3074) -> Gateway -> XBOX LIVE

Outgoing from Gateway to Xbox Live Servers

GATEWAY -> (Port S:20001 D:3074) -> XBOX LIVE
GATEWAY -> (Port S:20002 D:3074) -> XBOX LIVE

And the return traffic from Xbox Live back to the Xboxes (via the gatway, which is kinda transparent to the Xboxes)

XBOX LIVE -> (Port S:3074 D:20001) -> GATEWAY -> XBOX 1
XBOX LIVE -> (Port S:3074 D:20002) -> GATEWAY -> XBOX 2

Of course, every single unique new connection automatically gets a port assigned to it from the pool in the range 20000 -> 30000, you could set it to a wider range (the highest port number available is 65110, I think...). When a connection state is dropped (i.e you log off and disconnect) the allocated port is freed up on the Gateway (basic IP stuff).
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hope it helps.

The other XBOX is not set up for live at all...  Never even tried to...  THe MOD Chip is on all the time...  Anyways...  I did the Region Code switch thing and it changed but still cant get on live...  New code:

Y:  00C2 0380

I think thats it...  That is all that changed and still no live...

is your router "xbox live compatible" if it is its probably detected your bros xbox (if it was on the network first) and forwarded all Live ports to it (whether youve used Live or not)

have you tried unplugging it?
