Changed Gamertag Via MS
« on: April 08, 2005, 01:35:00 AM »

I have a unique story here - Please read and respond if you have knowledge of this
1st. My xbox mobo was damaged during 2nd mod upgrade, so i sent in in to llama.

2nd. Got it back 2 months later, played on live for 3 days with 60gb hard drive.

3rd.Got banned due to new mobo/new eeprom same hard drive (i was not aware then, now i have been enlighten)
1st Ban-marriage theory

4th.Got a new eeprom and used it with same hd that got banned with 1st time.
2nd ban-marriage theory

5th.Got a new eeprom and an 80 gig hd, created new gamertag played for 2 weeks, no probs then i realized my old gamertag was already payed for and was a level 13 in halo2 ,so i got cocky and did account recovery to bring my old gamertag to the new hd and eeprom.

3rd ban-bigger hd theory (once banned, gt is flagged, which means if you sign on they check your hd size, no scanning of files is usually done.)

6. Now i got 2 stock hds, so i am using a virgin eeprom from a friend (cegha), and a 10 gib stock hd.
No ban- but still when i sign on it goes through slowly takes about 60 secs minimum as if there giving me an anal probe, in other words, checking my hd size.

Now I start to get smart,
i call MS and asked to change my gamertag cause i didnt like it/ made an error putting it in. Within the next two days, i sign on and it asked my to input my new Gamertag.
I went from gamertag:wegarth15 to gamertag:Thrill Will 16 (Current gt)
Now when i sign on it take 1/4 of the flaggen gt lentgh, it takes about 5-15 secounds depending on the network speeds.

Now i talked to someone that knew about this stuff, and he said from his expierement, he got banned with a 120gb hd, he used the same hard drive and a new eeprom, and then created a new gamertag, he has not been banned, and has been playing for 3 months now.- Which means they dont ban hard drives, they just check the hd size when your gt is flagged, and sometimes the serial, and if your hd is big(10gb+) then ban ya again.

So basically my question is since now i changed my gamer tag from "wegarth15" to "Thrill Will 15" (i did not create a new gamertag i called them and requested a new gamertag name, i still have all the same ranks on halo2, and all the same friends on the list)

Since my gamertag "may" no longer be flagged, would it be possible to get a new EEPROM and and use the 80 gib hard drive again so i would not have to switch hard drives?

If so  could some one lend me an unbanned EEProm for this expeirement
to test this theory, if it works, then when you get banned or flagged, all you have to do to get unflaggedis to call in and change your gamertag, and the system loses record of the flagged/ banned status, even if you created your account with a big hard drive.

All i need is one unbanned eeprom and a night on xbox live to figure this out, so if someone has an extra unbanned eeprom, and doesnt need it or wants to help the xbox live banning thread, this would be a nice theory to prove.
Any info/EEPROMs/knowledge is welcome.
Thank you in advance-This is dedicated to all the modbox owners that have to switch hard drives to use xbox live.

i believe that pay pal is a system you dont need a paypal card, you just need to register to get into the pay pal system.

yes i know this, i have used paypal before, but in order to pay for something via paypal you need a credit card linked to your pal pal account, but if my theory is correct it benefit many people not just me. I need an unbanned eeprom, not a paypal account, for i already have one, but the credit card i have will not work with it.

from what i heard, and from first experience, if you get a new gamertag/change it via 1-800-4my-xbox, you might be able to use the same hard drive, it all depends.

i'm only 16, i dont have all that right now, and my mom has a paypal account, which i already stated, i am just waiting for 5-10$ to come available, i also just thought the way eeproms are going to waste, someone would have an extra one, for my theory just might work, when i get an unbanned eeprom, i will test my theory, because i have already fried my 80 gib:(  do to hard drive swapping to play on xbox live smile.gif(not worth losing my 80 gib which had 20 games, 3 movies, 40 albums of music) i just had to take it to the dumpster, its a sad day for me, but i still got my stock 10 gib, which i use for xbox live, any way you think they will ban me for havining c:\evoxdash.xbe, and one game? ( all i could fit until i buy my new 120 gib next friday)
thanks for help

just so you  know.. if you logged in to xbox live with your new gamer tag already, and then get a new eprom you will be banned.  you have to log in with the new gamertag and eprom at the same time. as long as you arent flagged they hdd shouldnt need to be changed.  good luck
