Marriage Theory No Help For Me Either......

QUOTE(SoCal @ Apr 5 2005, 01:59 PM)
It is clear by now that the "marriage theory"  dry.gif  cannot be the only possible way of banning people from live.  Ive got a 1.0 box with the Xecuter 4983 bios and I just swapped out my HDD and put a new EEPROM (from Zodiak) 2 weeks ago.  The HDD was properly locked using Config Magic final.  I signed back up for Live using my free 2 month that came with Halo 2 (using a new gamertag and new credit card.)  All i did that night was go on to the Live dash, then DL some content for GR Island Thunder, the original Mech Assault and KOTOR.  I have NOT been on Live since nor have I had my ethernet cable connected to my box.  I reconnected my cable and attempted to go on to MLB 2K5 tonight and guess what?  I cannot connect to Xbox Live because "the software or hardware may have been modified."

Well, no, there are other 'mundane' methods of getting banned, for instance, going on live with your mod enabled will get you banned. This is why you *must* use a Live Blocking Bios, like X2 4981.

with the 4983 bios there is no way to edit the boot paths, so you MUST have all dash files on C - that's probably what got you banned.

you need to change to 4981 bios - edit with XBtool - and switch your dash locations to E or F. keep only MS Dash files on C

I wouldnt say that they are scanning hdds yet.  I have a 200GB that got married to my original eeprom of my xbox. I'm using a X3 with 3029 bios, with a dashboard folder, backup folder, bios folder, and uix.xbe all on the C:\ drive and i have been playing on xbl since the release of Halo 2.

m$ is not scanning your xbox hd...

i added a 120gb hd to my halo green xbox(brand new) back in may 2004. this xbox is always connected to my home network. i play lots of games on it and use qwix A LOT too. i have other boxes, but they are not for gaming purposes. i play on live about 3-4 times a week. my c: drive is full of dashboards and skins. my e: drive is full of apps and emus that i dont even use.

i mostly use x2.4983 because it has always worked for me. what does this live blocking bios really do? do any of you know? the question has been asked here before, but nobody can convince me that if you force your xbox to login to xbl, that this code will stop you. the fact of the matter is that people get banned for that everyday.

i have never been banned and there are only 3 precautions i ever take to prevent an accidental xbox live login... the first thing i always do is keep my gt account info on a memcard. i also delete all xbox live related xbe's from each game i move to my hd. the third is something i started only 3 weeks ago, which is blocking port 3074 to the static ip i use for all my dashboards, but this usually means i have to go to m$dash to change it to dhcp whenever i want to play on xbl and i dont like that.

i read quite a bit of the posts in this forum section and one thing that i have read numerous times is that users were banned after playing mlb2k5. i wonder if some of the newer games are doing new undocumented tests and we just have not caught on yet.

stay green!

They are scanning the HDs. I have been saying that forever now.  Get a new eeprom and hd, then DO NOT put anything other than the orginal xbox software on the xbox and you won't get banned.

even if they DID scan the hard drive... as long as you have all your shit on the F drive they cant see it, because the M$ bios cant read partition f or g...

I've had a similar thing happen recently. I've modded around 10 Xboxs for use on XBL so far without a problem. Within the last 2 weeks I have done 2 Xboxs and both were banned. The story behind both of them are nearly identical so I"ll just talk about one.
The xbox had been on live before I modded it. I installed the Xecuter 3 chip, swapped out the hdd for a 250gig, used a virgin eeprom in config magic and went about loading all the software like usual. After that I have a XBL test account to make sure it works. Both boxes were able to play Halo 2 online and download all the updates. So when I give the boxes back to their owners, one of them went to account recovery and got the "your hardware or software may have been modified" message and the other went to new account and while he was troubleshooting his connection he got the same message.
I know that live block was enabled, the harddrives were locked, and the new eeprom was good ( or else I could not have connected to live the first time).
All in all, this sucks

Put it this way,

I tried a new HD/GT and eeprom off Zodiak with a blocking bios and was banned in 24 hours. I week later I did exactly the same again and have been fine ever since. I think some of the eeproms have been connected to live before the xbox they came from was modded - they then break the marriage theory when they are flashed to a new xbox with a different HDD.

Forgot to say. Also was booting from F:\ so theres nothing that shouldn't be there on c:\
