My Live Story
« on: March 23, 2005, 06:17:00 PM »

So I bought my xbox online from newegg. When I got it I had a free trial for live so I thought I would try it out. When I tried to connect it wouldn't connect. It would get so far then error out. I called MS and talked to about 3 or 4 different people and no one could help he connect. They told me I would have to send it in for repair or update or something like that. I wasn't going to do that so I figured screw it, I didn't buy it for live anyway.

A few months later I modded it with an X3 chip. Now I figured I would never use live so I gave away another 2 month trial that I got in Halo 2.

Now a few months later, my son really wants to play on live because a bunch of his friends are on there so I figured I would try to connect again. I locked my drive and tried again. Again, I got an error. This time I came here to see what the deal was and I figured out that the error was because it was saying my eeprom didn't match my hardware. I read that I could try to change it to PAL and back again and try again. I did that but it didn't work still. So then I tried to change it to PAL and go on live in PAL mode. What do you know?!?! It worked!!! It did an update and then let me try to log in. SO I turned it off and switched it back to NTSC because I don't have any PAL games and then I logged on again and now it works.

Only thing now is I need a 2 month trial since I gave 2 away. Just thought I would let people know in case they have the same problems. Thanks to everyone here for the help they gave me.

I used enigmah also. I was just glad live still worked when I switched back to NTSC.

I got the "Xbox live not found" error listed in fuzzy's thread. I also had the C2 in the Y line. That is how I figured out the hardware not matching the eeprom. It kinda surprised me that it would come that way from newegg though. It didn't look like it had been opened at all when I got it. Oh well, as long as it works now.

Hey man, I have a question, So all you did was switch the video setting via Enigmah?  That's all??  YOu didn't use Config Final, or anything else?  Please let me know, as I"m having somewhat of the same problem.

And If you need A 2 month Trial, I have one you can have.
