I Want Hd - How Do I Know If Box Has Been On Live?
« on: March 11, 2005, 07:27:00 PM »

smile.gif. both worked perfectly when i hooked them up properly.

so the reason i purchased them was to fix and resell to a buddy with a new eeprom to be sure he was good for xbl, but now i want to either upgrade and mod them(without flashing an eeprom) or sell them to the highest bidder because they work fine and have not been tampered with.

which leads to my question... is there any way of knowing if these xbox consoles have connected to xbl before?

i have read quite a bit of these scene forums for the last 1+ years and have never run across this topic before. i tried a few searches tonight, but all came up empty.

thanks in advance for any info, tips or links you may provide me.

I can't think of any other way, but connecting it to live. But of course, if it is a virgin indeed, you'll be stealing her cherry.

I'm as intrigued as you to find out if there is any other ways to know.

Your XYZ codes are the normal codes when you don't have a cable plugged in. Since communication can't be established, all values will show "0".

If they have XBOX Live! software installed, depending on the version, it could tell you aproximatley how long they haven't been on, since each xbox Live update has a release date. If it was before tsunami (XBOX Live 2) It should be good to mod, since by that time the marriage wasn't still being used by M$.

Good Luck mate.

(I suspect the 1.00.5971.01 means it's Live 3.0 eh.)

@STICKY_BUD: in Settings->System Info what K: and D: values scroll by?  Also, have you checked for XBL accounts via the Memory tab and are any games at all shown in there eh?

QUOTE(STICKY_BUD @ Mar 12 2005, 11:43 AM - parts)
so i guess that means this xbox had not been on live since the latest dash update which i think was in november, right?

the mfg date is 10/2004

i have not looked into the xbox live settings codes for either console with an ethernet cable because i am unsure if that makes marriage
Your 5960 dash update very probably (but not certainly) means it's not been on XBL since the HDD tracking started. smile.gif

Hmm ... that mfg date doesn't jive with the 4034 kernel version.  uhh.gif

(It's possible that connecting without signing-on might track something eh.)

(SFAIK kernel 4034 was only in 1.0's so there's something odd about it and/or that sticker eh!)

Be aware that either box could possibly have been EEPROM banned on XBL (prior to the HDD tracking) so there's still that potential risk eh.
