Gt Flagged A Year Ago Does That = A Ban?
« on: March 05, 2005, 07:47:00 PM »

In a post i put up not to long ago. I refered to the option of account recovery to put my original GT on my new mod box.  The Post stated:

"I just updated my eeprom. Got a virgin eeprom and virgin HDD. Everyhting works great. I got online, got a 2 month trial and created a new tag. I've been playing good for 2 days now.  I want my original XBL tag thats on my other (Stock Retail) XBOX. Can i just copy the xbl file on a memory card and toss it in my MOD box?  Or will that result in problems and a ban? I also thought instead of doing that i would account recover my XBL tag.  Cause when you do that a message pops up saying.
"Only the information on this XBOX will be valid"

Would that marry my virgin eeprom and HD serial key with my old GT? Which method is best to do and is it possible at all? Thanks in advance."

GUMBA replied with

"Have you been banned while using that account? if so, when you use it on your upgraded xbox, you will get that xbox banned because the account has been flagged."

My thing is that i banned my old EEPROM a year ago when XBL 2.0 first came out. Since then i've been playing on my Retail xbox. Will playing on the mod box with the old GT get me banned. How long do these flags last and was it implemented back then?

And if you don't know post so this thing stays up on the forums. If worst comes to worst i don't mind being the lab rat....lol

It is suspected that the gamertag flagging started along with all the marrying, around June/july of 2004.

I did it. Put my old GT that banned a EEPROM in April 2004 and i've been fine. i'll keep updateing every day.  I also checked my XYZ codes and they seem intact. So far so go. Wish me luck.

me too plus this will be good news for anyone with my situation. If anything at least i'm not wasting my time. It's for the good of other xbox-scene members. If i get banned then we know flags last a long a$$ time. And this flagging stuff started around XBL 2.0.

Well here's pretty much my final update. Everything is good to go. been playing like a maniac and i've played tons of online games over the past 2-3 weeks. No problems no ban and XYZ codes still intect. Seems our theory holds merit. If you banned a xbox from live before XBL 3.0 June/July (Any time in april is good cause that was my case) you can then get online with a new HDD and that same GamerTag without banning the new xbox. I hope my findings help the xbox scene community and i want to thank everyone for their help and support!
